Many Fortune 500 companies have started outsourcing their reverse engineering jobs to specialist
firms with in-house expertise like BPO Matrix who have proven expertise in the component design process.

Reverse engineering in mechanical design increases the designer's productivity by automatically
creating the 2D and 3D drawings and wire models from the physical model. BPO Matrix has considerable
expertise in re-engineering and modifying an existing product using the techniques of reverse engineering.

The process involves

Analyzing the existing product

Identifying the product components and their relationships

Creating representations of the systems in another form

|
|
| |

BPO Matrix uses scanned data to reverse engineer and create 3D models.
The equipment used for capturing the point cloud data of the components are:

White light scanner - for non contact type scanning

Laser scanner - for non contact type scanning

CMM - touch probe contact type scanner

|
|
| |

The point cloud data of the component in multiple exposures is aligned using specialized software known as
IM-Align. The solid model of the part is then created using software Surfacer. 3D models
and designs are created by incorporating engineering and tooling requirements, such as shrink factors,
draft angles, under cuts and flange details. Irregularities on the surface of the components are
eliminated during the reverse engineering process.

BPO Matrix has achieved 99% conformance in the first trial itself, for the reverse engineering of

Automotive components

Mechanical engineering parts

White goods

Electrical components

Sub-assemblies
